Default 08 PT shift problems

Hi, I recently bought an 08 PT, 2.4L, NA, 5spd. It has 35K on it and after driving for a while it wont shift into gear (1st and 2nd mainly). The clutch does not slip or anything and I just changed the trans fluid and tried adjusting the shift cable without success. Is this a common problem and if so what is the solution? Thanks

Bushings, You need aftermarket bushings. Others will chime in shortly with more on this.

You have a cable?

Are you in Europe?

Yes the booger's will do fine. No apologies necessary, that's how we learn.

I checked out my bushings and they look and feel new so Im going to wait on the boogers (for now). After seeing another hard shifting thread I adjusted the clutch master cylinder push rod (at the pedal) and problem solved, it shifts great again.

I bought a new 2009 PT Cruiser in 2009 (not turbo charged) with a 5 (forward) speed manual transmission. At about 20,000 miles I began to notice very difficult shifting, particularly getting into first gear at a stop and shifting from 1st gear into 2nd gear when moving. If I shift into first gear when still moving the shift is generally not a problem, but to shift inot first when standing still is a very difficult exercise. I have asked two different Chrysler Dealership Service departments to research, diagnose and suggest repairs that will fix the problem. Each dealer has said they cannot duplicate the problem.

Id try adjusting the clutch push rod, all you need is a 8mm? wrench. It takes longer to find the bolt than it does to adjust it. That solved my clutch issue and Ive been driving it for a while and its great. Heres the info I used to do mine. Good luck

I doubt it's the clutch per se, but

I'd use stock replacement clutch- Neon guys bypass expensive aftermarket clutches and get a Stock PT one for their turbo-thingy-swaps

There's a self adjusting and standard (Both modular)
