Orig owner: Patriot Blue 2001 LE 5-spd. 100% stock except for KYB front struts, K&N air filter & oversized oil drain plug. Totalled her for the 3rd & final time on 03 Jan 2023, & the damn thing still got me home safely - somehow. Did you replace fuel injectors or just clean them? Did your do a "repair" just before the problem started? I've learned to test injectors, specially new one, before installing. On my last purchase 5 out of 6 injectors didn't spray or didn't stop spraying.

If never any codes thrown, I'd suspect the computer.
I got a rebuillt ECU from Myckee a couple of years ago, and it fixed all the issues I was having. (The car previously had a ECU replacement in it's first year or so - long before it came into my hands, and was running great for about seven years then started acting up!) https://www.ebay.ca/str/myckeesecus Since I had the Turbo Lite, I asked Myckee for the "stage 1" tune, and that extra 40 HP is PALPABLE ![]() ** Gas mileage down accordingly, but it's worth it ... |

Cleaned tank when new pump/filter was installed. Checked all lines, new injectors, rail, etc. I have had five Cruisers, never had this problem before. Finally doing ambient air sensor, both oxygen sensors, different crankshaft position sensor, neutral safety switch as we speak. The car is much faster and much smoother otherwise. Never had one run this strong. Next would be key tumbler/ignition switch I guess. I think it is a ground/short. Thanks for all the tips.

OK, Just installed, front and rear oxygen sensors at catalytic converter, and a "new again" crankshaft position sensor and it is MUCH MUCH worse. I now think it is the wiring for the Crankshaft position sensor. If no suicide, will update; don't hold your breath. This will be the first car that ever beat me. Lol

Difficult finding something you haven't tried. I built a smoke generator using a small paint pressure pot, torch, low air pressure supply and some mineral (baby) oil. Hooked it up to the intake and looked for puffs of smoke (leaks).
In my case, didn't fine any but knew "that wasn't it" and it didn't cost anything. |
