I have read every word of this thread, but after giving it some thought, I must respectfully disagree. I absolutely LOVE my '02 nothing-special-about-it-at-all edition, but I think in order for the car to become the classic it rightfully deserves to be, it must not be produced anymore. Imagine if you will, the year is 2020, and the brand new 2021 PT Cruisers just started appearing in showrooms. After many years of design controversy by a now divided Chrysler, the car has become a boxy monstrosity, reminiscent of a 1986 Chevy Astrovan, all because of a public that refused to let the brand die a natural death. That is an exaggeration, I know, but Chrysler has already said they'd reached the limit of styling evolution without it becoming another species altogether. Not being tied down by the PT Cruiser would free them to make other cars. Had Chevrolet continued to make Bel Airs, we wouldn't have had the Impala, or the Camaro. But we would have still had the Citation.
I guess to me, it doesn't matter, because my PT Cruiser is so different from all the other ones on the road, that even if everybody and his brother had one, mine would still be a classic. I have a funny feeling that a lot of people on this group (if not all of them) can say the same. So if they quit making them, mine becomes all that much more valuable, but it's only because of the time and money I invested in it that a glut of Cruisers on the road won't cheapen it. ![]() |

I signed the petition.
It's a niche vehicle. The Mustang has kept Ford in good stead. Why should Chrysler give up the car that could last just as long, or longer and be financially viable. Remember, in the Gas Crisis of the 70s, people tried to kill the Mustang. Right now it's one of Ford's major profit centers! ![]() ![]() |

there will never be another like the PT Cruiser in our lifetime if they cant see that then what can we do.
