Re: No Speedo?

Kind of left this whole thread hanging. So, here's an update.

...I thought I had it fixed....but...nope.

Anyway, I hope this makes sense.

Re: Throttle Body Auto vs Manual (with turbo)

On a related note, are there any performance throttle bodies for the GTs?

I have a little stumble off the line in my '05 w/ automatic that seems to be TB related and thought I might upgrade in...

Re: Excess Pre-ignition in My '05 GT

I ran two consecutive tanks full with Sea Foam added and the knocking has cleared. Thanks to all.

Re: Excess Pre-ignition in My '05 GT

Could be, I guess.

Fuel additive or something simple to alleviate?

Thanks in advance.

Excess Pre-ignition in My '05 GT

I suppose any pre-ignition is excessive, but Pressing and holding the loud pedal comes with more than I'd certainly like.

Running the best gas and brands I can around here, but the 91 octane...

Re: Question about Watts link

Worn center bearing or bad shock? Either manifests as a heavy clunk from the back end.

The center bearing is most easily diagnosed by simply grabbing on and giving it a tug. If there is play, it's...

Re: What did you do to your PT today?

Two jobs today, one on my '05 GT and the other on my former '05 Touring.

Job One

GT (Brenda) was riding very poorly as of late and I concluded the driver's front strut had locked up. It simply...

Re: Transmission Range Sensor - Replacement?

As my goal was to isolate and eliminate code sources before installing the new/rebuilt PCM, the P0218 was one of the last two recurring.

rambojoe's confidence gave me pause, and after pondering...

Transmission Range Sensor - Replacement?

Has anyone done one of these and, if so, why?

I'm trying to isolate the possible error code sources, among them (P0218) is one for transmission high temperature. That sensor is part of the TRS.

Re: Wide vs Narrow Wheel MPG Comparison

Factory tires are 205's no matter of 16" or 17". Not sure about the rim width. Air flow around either should be about the same.

What I do know is that Low Rolling Resistance tires are just that...

Re: Rear door (electric) will unlock but not lock

Check the voltage at the lock plunger connector in the door first. If both +/-
check okay, time for a quick trip to the PnP. Grab a new/used lock plunger mechanism. Not an uncommon problem.

Re: P0501 Pops at 70 MPH

Stock 205/50-17 tires all around. Wheels are not stock, just a but wider.

I guess I should be wondering if somehow the PCM was reprogrammed for a different wheel size? And how would I check?

Or...

P0501 Pops at 70 MPH

Trying to make sure I sort before my new-new remanufactured PCM arrives and the only thing I'm not sure is bad within the original PCM is the recurring P0501 code. It seems to reliably pop at 70-72...

Re: Comuter Swap - What Happens if I plug in an old PCM?

Okay, so I yanked the 'guaranteed rebuilt PCM" and I'm back to where I began:

- No speedometer
- No odometer
- No cruise control

All points to the vehicle speed output off the original PCM,...

Thanks all.

And myckee, are you interested in testing a couple of PCMs?

Comuter Swap - What Happens if I plug in an old PCM?

My replacement PCM has been giving me fits to the point I'm seriously contemplating dropping my '05 GT off at the dealer.

Before I do that, I still have the original PCM - about 4oo miles removed...

Ditto the thanks. I'd overlooked this page/chart in the service manual(s).

But....

Then I continued to scroll through pages following the chart and found some very useful diagrams. In the...

Grounding Points - Where are they All?

Might be out here somewhere, but can someone point me to a simple schematic of where all the grounding lugs are on the various PT models? It sure would make troubleshooting easier.

Thanks in...

Dropped the tank and found the nearside valve not working (photo attached). The far side valve was fine.

As this is a non-serviceable part, I secured a new/used tank and...

When the previous owner of my now '05 GT went to the dealer, among the first things they did was take out a brand new set of platinum NGKs - like I've used in al my PTs - and replace with Champion...

Re: No Speedo?

Check the photo attached. I think the .AH number is the software version you seek. If not, I'm using an Innova scanner. It has to be there somewhere.

I felt a bit like the guy asking the...

Re: Fuel Tank Issue

I tried to blow air through from both directions to no avail.

I guess I'll drop the tank this weekend and take a closer look.

Thanks.

Fuel Tank Issue

My '05 PT Ltd 2.4T won't fuel properly. It fills about a quart then stops because the fuel is backing up the filler neck.

I've identified that the vent tube coming back to near the fuel filler...

Re: Turbo Oil Leak

I think I got 'em.

While the rubber return hoses are soft, they weren't really contributors to the problem.

The GT had a leaky oil pressure sending unit. I'd replace that a few years ago and it...

Re: No Speedo?

The scariest part of this myckee, would be if there is something outside the PCM that is causing damage. That fear comes from the diagnosis of the original PCM as terminal completely apart from the...
