I had a tire shop clean the rim as well and that seemed to do the trick for me. It's been about 4 days and the tire is still keeping its air.

Thanks crewzin. Pardon my ignorance but how would sanding the rim and the valve stem hole help in preventing air leaks? Is it to make a good seal between the tire and the rim?
