Default Fold-down receiver in a 2nd-Gen?

So, I have a Pioneer receiver with a fold-down face that is only 6 months old. My 2005 just got killed by a deer, and I am considering a newer PT. I realize Gen-II's require a different wiring harness/adapter, but I also see on the Crutchfield site that they say a receiver with a fold-down face will not fit. Can anyone confirm? I can't see why the fit into a more recent PT would differ from the first generation.
