So, if I understand this correctly,,,, If I find units with the same part number, but the last letter is different, it should work?? My unit ends with AM... I haven't found any that have a later letter than M, but have found some units that have earlier letters as in L or D. These should work??

OK, Thank you for the help.

I still don't know if a 6 disc changer will work in my vehicle.

Yes, a 6-disc changer will work in your vehicle. My 2006 came with the standard single-disc player with mp3 player/cell phone jack. Model (also known as Sales Code) REF. The optional player is a 6-Disc changer, Model RAQ. This CD player will read mp3 files and the radio has RDS (song titles, etc).

I, however, replaced my radio with a Model RAK from a Dodge Charger. It has the 6-disc CD changer that reads mp3s, radio with RDS and Cassette Tape. Now I can play CDs, mp3s,and cassettes, as well as plug in an external source (like my cell phone or music player) using a cassette adapter.

So there you have it.

Upgraded to RAK radio with 6 CD changer, Cassette Tape and RDS info. Name: "FIREBALL" I bought it Aug 10, 2015, with just over 35,600 miles on it.

Thanks for that info. So, now how would I know which part number 6 disc changer will work for my year (2008)? Is there a cross reference chart or is this a hit and miss situation??

Side note: What are the door spears and door lock pulls?

This is the model & seller I bought for my 2006...

RAQ Chrysler 6 Disc Factory Radio Am FM MP3 CD Player 05 to 09 6CD Stereo | eBay

...the 1st unit had CD problems, seller sent out a replacement within 2 days.

Okay,

THIS 6-disk charger will work in an unmodified 2008 PT with just about a 100% level of confidence. Why? Because I just put it in my 2007. And they be THE SAME.

PS: I have not been able to verify that any PT Cruiser had the faster bus. From what I can tell, even the 2009 and 2010 PT's used the older type stereo units with the half-moon sides and these were slow bus. If I'm wrong please let me know.
