Default Crazy Locks

Out 2005 WPC Edition goes spastic from time to time, locks popping up and down without any driver provocation.

I noticed this a few weeks back while opening one of our other PTs in the driveway. That time, after using a key fob to unlock the other car, the WPC began trying to lock itself with no accompanying beep and blink. It was already locked.

The other day is was locking and unlocking itself as my wife drove it home from work.

All that said, I've had this car about 6 months and the driver's side rear door often does not lock on the first fob press.

My thought is to replace the rear door actuator and see what happens.

Thoughts?

My first thought is the BCM (body control module), but I'm not even sure if it has one. I THINK it does since it's an 05. Maybe Handy or Nitro or someone that works on cars will know for sure. Sometimes a corroded connector to the BCM can cause these issues. Don't ask me where it's located, because I DON'T know for sure. I just THINK it's under the dash board near the center of the car.

My 2004 sometimes has this weird lock 'chatter' from the driver's rear door when locking, and recently the driver's side front door lock has stop working altogether ( I have to lock it with the key, although the others all lock and unlock with the fob...)

You guys might want to check the connector on the back of the driver side door lock too. Mine was hinky in the GT and it was that damned plug. I grabbed one at a salvage yard, spliced it in and that cured my issues.

Dropped by the local PnP yesterday and grabbed an actuator. Quick replacement and no more two-clicks to lock the car.

On an interesting note, when locking/unlocking the car with the rear door actuator unplugged, the driver's door lock was lethargic. It didn't seem to want to fully lock or unlock. It didn't behave this way with either of the rear actuators in place.

I'm waiting for the wife's report this week to see if the crazy locks have gone away.

For you people who have worked on the door locks - how many of those plastic clips got broken in the process of removing the door panels? ( I'm going to stock up on ebay soon...)

I didn't break any of them, R&R. The hell of it is that I picked up several extras while in the junk yard. I sent most of the stuff I had to Handy when I sold my GT. I don't recall if any of those clips were in there or not.

Just wanted to close the loop...

No lock weirdness since the (used) replacement was installed.

I suspect the car was trying unsuccessfully to lock and continued to try until it either gave up or was satisfied it had locked. On the roll, the weirdness probably began at about 15 mph.
