this is what my crankshaft connector looked like...I guess each part was failing...not bad for 196,000 miles

I replaced the 1 cam sensor

2 crankshaft sensor and connector, 3 camshaft magnet

listen to your car it will tell you what to do...

I replaced each item 1 at a time...

each time it coded me to the part ....

Hang on a minute. I might have been off by a year on the location of the CRANKshaft sensor but the CAMshaft sensor wiring harness does indeed go around back of the engine and can fall loose to hang low enough to hit the half shaft. Happen to mine near midnight on I95 in South Carolina. When the wires hit the half shaft, my PT came to a sudden halt (actually I could drive it off to the side of the road) and call a tow truck to be worked on the next morning.

On the later blocks the harness isn't down there. The two sensors are part of the same harness. Moving the crank sensor to the front eliminated that risk.
