Default Revving Problem?

Anybody had this problem?
My engine revs by itself, repeatedly, as I am coming to a stop. Push clutch in to coast to stop. Lightly apply brake -- as in when coming to a red light. As long as the car is moving, the engine will rev up-and-down, between 1,000 and 2,000RPM on the tach. Never above. It will do it repeatedly until the car comes to a complete stop. Two Dealers have not resolved it, but one has confirmed it and said they've never heard of such a thing! Supposedly, the behaviour was recorded by that Dealer and is at Chrysler for review, since they had no other stick-shift to compare it with.

2001 PT Cruiser Ltd. Edition.
5-Speed Stick-Shift.
Always use recommended 87-octane gas.
Premium gas does not help.
Has done this since 3,000 Miles -- now at 6,800.
Does it hot or cold.
Does it in rain or sunshine.
Was intermittent for a time, but it seems to do it ALL the time, now
(since the weather has gone a little cold at night).
Does it on full gas tank or low.
With the car in gear, or out of gear.
Only noticeable while clutch is depressed.
Does not seem to rev up-and-down while accelerating.
Only does it while coasting.
Does it with light braking applied, or not.
Does it with single Driver, or with multiple Passengers.
Speedometer cable was checked.
Does it at as low a speed as 1/2 a mile an hour.
Car had one other problem, at 2,500 miles, and had its EGR Valve and Plugs & Wires replaced -- started several weeks after that repair, but may not be related.

Somebody please help!
Driving me CRAZZZZYYY!!!

not much you can do, unless you the capability to checked for program errors on power control module. may even want to check for loose or faulty connections for idle control motor. my 2 cents <img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>
