Unhappy Rattle from the rear

Hi

I have a head scratching rattle coming from the left rear (I think).

I've removed the spare and it's bracket but no fix. The exhaust is well secured but wiggling it doesnt replicate the rattle. I've also tapped all the suspension components with a rubber mallet but can't find the source of this rattle. It sounds metallic.

Any ideas?

Cheers from sunny Southern England!

There's a bellcrank looking thing in the middle.
It wears out, that's all i know.

Someone here is a lot more intimate with the part and should see your post sooner or later

Yep, Watts link is another name for it too, that is what ours was.

Check this link out.

Thank you! I'll check that out.

Is the part number 465 AC?

Default Re: Rattle from the rear - not Watts link

Right it's not the Watts link... Mines solid. all the bushes look ok too and drop links are firm as is the rear ARB.

I removed the wheel and stripped the brake calliper and disk off - nothing unusual there but I've got a suspicion it's the disk that's rattling - is that possible?

Without the wheel fitted the disk is obviously loose and if I rattle it around it makes the same kind of metallic rattle noise that I'm hearing...but with the wheel fitted there's no obvious rattle.

Any further ideas?

I had a rattle in on the drivers side rear of my GT. Found two small pieces of gravel in the bottom of the storage compartment drivers side cargo area. Yup weird. Hope yours is as easy to fix.

did you remove the rear disc, underneath is the e-brake shoes and springs.

The linings can delaminate from the backing plate, I assume you have 4 wheel disc brakes.

Hi, yes I have 4 disk brakes - I removed the disk and checked the handbrake shoes and all seems well. Still annoying rattling.

Are there any heat shields or anything further forward that can work loose?

I still haven't solved this problem and after stripping the left rear wheel, arch liner, spare wheel components and rear light - I'm convinced now that the rattle is the inner disc pad!

I opened up the petal shaped spring that sits in the cylinder but that only helped a little - the pad still rattles...

Is there a fix for this or a retainer spring I'm missing?

Compare to the other side if it is only one side. Maybe check the parts exploded view and see if your missing anything.
