Default Hello from Cedar Lake, Indiana

So last year, while working toward straightening out my driver's license, I ran across a friend's neighbor about to junk her '08 PT. Knowing the common issues, it had no compression in Cylinder #2, and oil and coolant were also intermixed. Car had 117k on it and the owner's son beat on it pretty hard for the last year - including driving it with a blown head gasket.

Knowing I'd have a while before my license was fixed (mostly old tickets), I thought: PROJECT CAR! So I ordered a reman cylinder head from Cylinder Heads International out of Texas (already knowing what I would find once I opened it up... burnt valves) the gasket set, timing belt & water pump, etc. The day everything arrived, my car looked like it had exploded in the driveway! However, the next day, it started right up and it's been about 6k miles (2 oil changes) without a single problem.

I honestly didn't care much for the overall look of the PT - at first - but now I love it! The seats are so configurable I can jam all my DJ equipment in it without problem, it gets OK mileage (I average 22 according to the dash, mostly city some highway), and it's a car I can be proud to say I saved from the scrap heap!

I'll attach a couple pics for now (exploded and after), I'll later post a more recent one later (now that she's all washed and waxed and I got rid of all the road tar).

Many more pics of that project here:

Welcome to the forum and thanks for saving one. Are you a mechanic? I ask because the timing belt job on these is a royal pain in the ass and not for the feint of heart.
