Okay I just got me some new 20's from WheelMax...Evreything fits, bolt pattern etc.
The problem is, when I try and put my rims on the front, the cone that stick out of the rotor is about 1/4 inch too long cuz the rims narrows toward the front and the back of the rim doesnt meet the rotor. How can I fix this? I have a 1991 GMC Sierra. |

You need hub spacers/rings. I had to get them for my car, they are small plastic rings that are placed between the hub and the back of the wheel...head over to any reputable rim/tire shop and they should be able to order them for you ; and don't worry...they aren't expensive...

My wheel centering rings were some type of plastic, seem to be working fine.

You have two options. 1) Change to an air bag suspension or 2) Go to www.californiacruisers.com and purchase modified front strut housings that will allow your twenties to fit.

Randall as stated above, first off what is the offset of the 20's that you are running? Secondly the plastic ring the comes with most wheels now is used to center the wheel on the hub. Third if you have the too spare you might want to go with a 1/4" wheel spacer..
The biggest problem that I think you may have is the spring perch coming into contact with the tire.. Most people that have tried to go with 20's up have had to raise the spring perch to accomodate the larger diameter tire.. If you go with a strut bag set up there is still a possibilty that you will have to modify the perch as well for clearance purposes.. If you were to go with cylinders like I did up front you will have to add a spacer to clear the larger diameter cylinder.. Hope this helps.. Send me some pics via email and lets see how we can fix your problem.. Kevin |
